You got to love the airport. The people-locals and tourists alike taking pictures of things like water fountains and Starbucks, the overpriced Dramamine and water, postcards of whatever city you are in, and the constant reminder of keeping your bags to yourself and no matter how much someone tries to bribe you, do NOT take something from an unknown person onto the plane. Didn't all parents teach their kids not to talk to scary strangers.
So, I have been traveling all over this country this summer. It needs to end. I won't lie I am getting tired of it. I am ready for the day that I am in my house in the "neighborhood" as my friend Sara calls it. Well, two times in two entirely different aiports in two way different places, police dogs came up to me. I mean come on do I look like someone who might have something that the dogs are looking for? Fully expecting for the police dog to attack me, I grabbed on to the seat awaiting the pounce, the teeth, yikes!... Then I think they suddenly forgot that they were fiercious drug hunting people attacking police dogs and turned back into the lazy house mutts because they stopped at my bags twice!! Mouths beginning to water as they smelt my mom's homemade cookies that she sent with me. I felt rather nervous knowing how drug dogs respond when they find something they want...not from experience of course.
On a serious note, I am getting ready to start with Bridges (international student ministry) on August 1. It is coming up fast! Please just keep praying over the time I meet with people in preparation for August and that all the details will be taken care of. I keep going back to the true fact that God continually provides in ways I never would dream of. Even staying with friends is his provision for this period of life.

hey you...just an encouragement to hang in there. you are now in the house in the "neighborhood", you are able to start working with Bridges and are not so far away from some old friends (or at least one). I love you dear!
ReplyDeleteMore updates!! I want to know how you are hangin' in my hometown :)
ReplyDeleteEvery so often I like to come back to your blog and re-read this posting. It makes me laugh everytime. I can just see you sitting in your seat with your legs slightly bent, hands having a death grip on your seat with a horror look on your face as the dogs are seemingly about to attack. Thank you for the way you write. I truly enjoy it and feel like I was in the airport with you. Kinda wish I was!
